Two BaZi calculators can receive the same birth certificate and still show a different hour—or even a different day. That does not automatically mean one calculator is broken. The result can reflect different calculation settings.
A clock time is not yet a chart time
A recorded birth time belongs to a civil time zone. In Purple Heaven, the optional local true-solar setting adjusts that recorded clock for the birthplace longitude and equation of time while preserving the original civil value beside it.
Purple Heaven then calculates both results and reports whether its adjustment changed the hour pillar.
Purple Heaven also compares a China-standard reference
Purple Heaven’s Middle Dragon convention anchors the calendar date used for the day, month, and year to China standard time while retaining the locally corrected birth hour. This is the product’s explicit convention, not a claim that every BaZi school calculates the same way.
The comparison reports whether the day, month, complete BaZi pillars, or Ziwei placements changed. A changed day also produces a different Day Master in Purple Heaven’s BaZi result.
What a transparent calculator should preserve
A trustworthy chart should keep three values visible:
- the recorded civil time;
- the local true-solar time at the birthplace;
- the Chinese calendar reference used for the day.
It should also say whether the adjustment changed the hour, day, month, or the complete chart. Hiding the assumptions makes a polished result harder to examine.
Verify before you interpret
If Purple Heaven marks a chart as boundary-sensitive, calculation is the beginning of the conversation. Records and family memory can help you understand uncertainty without pretending it does not exist.
